Colorado’s Wildfire Planning & Recovery Playbook
Friday, July 25, 2025, 11:00 AM MT - 12:00 PM MT
Panel discussion with Kate Dunlap (City of Boulder), Jonathan Bruno (Coalitions & Collaboratives), John Duggan & Robert Murphy (Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment), Victoria Amato (SWCA Environmental Consultants) & Eric Schroder (BAER, USFS)
Join several authors and contributors of the newly updated Playbook as they discuss how to utilize the document, why it was created, and what has changed – while also sharing their outlook and plans for the 2025 Fire Year. The Colorado Wildfire Planning and Recovery Playbook outlines critical and specific steps to take before, during, and immediately after a wildfire to facilitate a smooth recovery process. No single federal, state or local agency has the sole responsibility to complete wildfire planning and recovery actions across all lands. The most robust efforts involve collaboration with multiple entities, including non-governmental partners, counties, tribes, municipalities, and drinking water providers.
If you cannot make the webinar, we suggest registering so that you are notified once the recording is available online.
AUTHORS & PLAYBOOK DEVELOPMENT
Volunteers from more than a dozen municipalities, state and federal agencies, water providers, watershed organizations, and consultants from across the state set out to develop this Playbook in 2019, updated in 2021, and again in 2025. The Playbook is designed to achieve the following:
The authors bring a variety of perspectives to the table – ranging from entities that have experienced wildfire first-hand, to watershed groups and consulting companies that have assisted communities in secure funding and implementing post-fire projects, to federal and state agencies leading BAER teams, to municipalities seeking guidance to plan for a wildfire.
